Narcotic Operation

On 9/11/18 the Laurens County Sheriff’s Office Narcotic Unit and SWAT team executed a search warrant at 413 Houston Street in Laurens. This search warrant was the result of a long-term narcotic investigation regarding the illegal sale of heroin/fentanyl pills. During the execution of this search warrant, Investigators seized a quantity of counterfeit pills, along with an undisclosed amount of cash and a quantity of marijuana. Johnny Melvin Moore of 413 Houston Street, Laurens was arrested on scene without incident and later transported to the Johnson Detention Center. Mr. Moore was charged with Possession with intent to distribute a schedule II-controlled substance, Possession with intent to distribute a controlled substance, and possession with intent to distribute marijuana. More arrests are pending.

“Our Narcotics Unit has been working day and night to combat the sale of these heroin/fentanyl pills and found Moore to be a key player in the distribution network of these drugs. I hope to see him spend the rest of his natural life in prison, so he can’t poison our community and our youth any longer. Taking these pills is like playing Russian Roulette because any given pill could be fatal. There is no way for the user to know the amount of fentanyl in each of these counterfeit pills. This is an epidemic across the country and it has received significant media attention, particularly because of the deaths it has caused. This goes to show these drug dealers have no value for human life. We will continue to hunt them down one by one and do everything in our power to put these people in prison where they belong!” - Sheriff Don Reynolds, Laurens County SC
