Missing Person

August 1, 2018

On July 31, 2018 The Laurens County Sheriff’s Office responded to Fuller Rd in Clinton in reference to a missing elderly man. According to family members, Paul Patterson walked away from his residence at approximately 8:00 PM. Mr. Patterson is 84 years old, approximately 5’5” tall, 115 pounds, and was last seen wearing a black t-shirt and blue jeans. According to family members, Mr. Patterson is in good physical health for his age; however, he suffers from Alzheimer’s. He has left the residence on other occasions and is known to hide from family members.

After searching for Mr. Patterson for some time his family called for the Sheriff’s Office to respond at approximately 11:30 P.M. Deputies arrived on scene and immediately deployed the Laurens County Sheriff’s Office Bloodhound Tracking Team. After searching for several hours we requested the assistance of SLED’s Bloodhound Tracking Team. They responded to the scene and we continued the search through the remainder of the night. After exhausting all efforts with the Bloodhound Tracking Teams, the decision was made to notify local first responders to initiate a ground search. At this time, we are still in the process of searching for Mr. Patterson and would ask that anyone in the area call 911 immediately if they see Mr. Patterson.

“I want to remind the citizens of Laurens County about Project Lifesaver. The Sheriff’s Office provides this service at no cost to the family. A bracelet is placed on a family member who suffers from dementia or Alzheimer’s and is used to track their movements in the unfortunate event that they walk away from home and become disoriented" - Sheriff Don Reynolds.
