Update on Gwen Parks Wingo
On June 15, 2018 the body of Gwen Parks Wingo was located on the side of Beaverdam Church Rd in Mountville. The autopsy report ruled out any type of foul play, however the official cause and manner of death is still pending the toxicology report. Although foul play was not suspected, investigators were still working to find out how Mrs. Wingo ended up at this location. During the course of the investigation we learned that Mrs. Wingo voluntarily got into a vehicle with an unknown individual at a Corner Mart gas station. This gas station is at the intersection of Hwy 76 and Torrington Rd in Clinton. After posting photos of this individual and car to the Laurens County Sheriff’s Office Facebook Page we began receiving tips. This led to investigators being able to identify this individual as Boyd James Nabors Jr of 3425 Milam Rd in Clinton.
Mr. Nabors was located on June 20, 2018 and later arrested without incident due to the circumstances surrounding this incident. Mr. Nabors was charged with Obstruction of Justice, Drug Conspiracy, and Soliciting Prostitution. He was transported to Johnson Detention Center where he was booked on these charges. Mr. Nabors was released on June 21, 2018 on a $3400.00 bond.
“Mr. Nabors could have avoided a lot of trouble and heartache for the family of Mrs. Wingo and most likely himself if he had only been forthcoming when this occurred. Due to Mr. Nabors leaving the scene, he caused her family a lot of unnecessary pain at such a tragic time and left them with many questions. There’s no good ending to a situation like this but hopefully it brings closure to the family of Mrs. Wingo.”
