The Laurens County Sheriff’s Office is aware of various statements made across the entire state in recent days that appear to be threatening in nature and involve schools. The messages thus far have not been found to be credible and no specific threat has been identified as originating from or being directed at any school in Laurens County. However, we take each and every threat seriously and work closely with other agencies to investigate thoroughly. These matters are handled as priority.

We remind parents to remain vigilant and encourage them to talk to their children about the importance of reporting any potential threats or suspicious behavior. Be proactive by taking a moment to check your child’s belongings and be aware of their phone and social media activity. We also ask that you remind them that false threats, rumors, and pranks are not a joking matter and can have serious consequences.

Our focus remains on ensuring the safety and security of all students, staff, and schools.
