Man Arrested On Multiple Charges After Pursuit

On October 31st at approximately 3AM, deputies on routine patrol observed a vehicle on Highway 14 at Metric Road in Laurens driving at an excessive and reckless speed. Deputies attempted to initiate a traffic stop, at which time the suspect continued increasing speed, swerving into oncoming traffic, and showing great disregard to the safety of others. The pursuit continued through Laurens City, down Chestnut Street Extension and eventually to Highway 221 South. The suspect attempted to turn onto Lisbon Road at which time the vehicle was disabled. The suspect proceeded to ram his vehicle into an occupied patrol car.
Erick Ricardo Ortiz Olvera was arrested and charged as follows:
Driving Under The Influence
Failure to Stop for Blue Lights
Assault and Battery High and Aggravated
Traffic Violations
