Earlier this week, the Laurens County Sheriff’s Office began our 2026 Citizens Academy, and the response from the community was outstanding. Nearly every available slot was filled by citizens eager to learn more about the work we do and the role the Sheriff’s Office plays in serving and protecting Laurens County.
Participants were introduced to the structure and daily functions of the agency, gaining a better understanding of the many responsibilities our deputies and staff handle behind the scenes.
The evening also included time on our training simulator, where participants were able to step into realistic scenarios and test their decision-making while practicing basic shooting skills in a controlled environment. It’s a hands-on experience that offers a glimpse into the kind of split-second thinking law enforcement officers must use every day.
We appreciate the citizens who took the time to sign up, attend, and invest in learning more about their Sheriff’s Office. Building relationships and understanding with our community members is one of the most important parts of what we do. We look forward to next week's class.
