Animal Abuse

On Thursday February 28, 2019 the Laurens County Sheriff's Office was contacted in reference to an anonymous complaint that Takevious Danglo Anderson, a person who had an active bench warrant for Domestic Violence was at 778 Durbin Road in Fountain Inn. We also received information there was possibly a mistreated animal on the premises. Sheriff Reynolds and a Deputy responded to the location just prior to 7 AM. Upon arrival, a gray pit bull puppy was located outside the residence lying curled up and shivering in a small dog house with no roof and only hay for bedding. There was no food or water for the dog, and it was found to be in a state of starvation and malnourishment with a collar that was too tight. Sheriff Reynolds and the deputy attempted to locate someone at the home, however no one initially came to the door. They did find a vehicle on the premises with a suspended tag belonging to Mr. Anderson as well. While Deputies continued to investigate the incident and get Mr. Anderson to answer the door, Sheriff Reynolds obtained a bag of dog food. The Deputy also had a small bag of treats on hand, which were given to the starving dog. Laurens County Animal Control was notified and responded to the scene to assist. Mr. Anderson eventually answered the door and was taken into custody by the Sheriff and the Deputy. He was transported to the Johnson Detention Center where he will be booked on the following charges:

Outstanding Bench Warrant for Domestic Violence Ill Treatment of Animals (47-01-0040B; Felony) Failure to Surrender SC License Plate The dog was turned over to Laurens County Animal Control and taken to a veterinarian for treatment. “Anyone who could do this to an animal, or another human being is simply evil. This isn’t something that happens over night or goes unnoticed, so this guy knew what he was doing to this poor animal. This will not be tolerated by the Laurens County Sheriff’s Office!” -Sheriff Don Reynolds
