On June 25, 2018 Laurens County Sheriff’s Office Investigators were in the area of Neely Ferry Rd in Hickory Tavern when they observed a white in color GMC Sierra Truck in the area with a license plate that didn’t match the vehicle. Upon attempting to stop the truck the driver fled in the vehicle. Deputies pursued the vehicle for a short time before the driver lost control and ran off the roadway near the intersection of Bolt Rd and Ballenger Rd in Hickory Tavern. The driver then fled into the woods on foot. The Laurens County Sheriff’s Office Bloodhound Tracking Team responded to the scene to search for the suspect, however he was not located during the search. The driver of the vehicle has been identified as Daniel Claude Banks. Deputies later discovered that the vehicle was stolen from Mauldin SC on June 22, 2018.
