Animal Control and Shelter

At the heart of our community’s commitment to safety, compassion, and responsible pet ownership is the Animal Control and Shelter division under the Laurens County Sheriff’s Office. We’re a community safety partner working every day to protect both people and animals across the county.

What We Do

Our team responds to calls involving animal welfare concerns. We enforce county animal ordinances, investigate cruelty or neglect complaints, and work to keep dangerous situations from escalating. Education and outreach on responsible pet ownership are pillars of what we do.

We also operate our shelter that houses dogs brought in by Animal Control staff. While space is often limited, our goal is to give every animal the best chance at a safe outcome; whether that’s reunification with its family, placement with a rescue partner, or adoption into a loving home.

Adoptable Dogs

Every dog at the shelter has a story — and a personality waiting to be part of your family. From energetic companions longing for a backyard to calmer pups ready to snuggle on the couch, our adoptable dogs come in all shapes, sizes, and temperaments. Visit the shelter during operating hours to meet them in person, or view current dogs below:
