Threat Towards a School
On May 2, 2018 Deputies with the Laurens County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call for service at a residence on Torrington Rd in Clinton. Deputies were originally dispatched to this location in reference to an altercation between siblings. Upon their arrival a white male subject fled on foot from the residence but was identified as 17 year old Damon Keith Kempster.
During the course of their investigation they were made aware of threats towards a school which were communicated by Mr. Kempster. Mr. Kempster stated on a social media post that he was going to shoot a school, however he didn’t specify which school he was referencing.
Deputies later arrested Mr. Kempster at his residence after he returned home. He was arrested without incident and transported to Johnson Detention Center where he awaits a bond hearing. Mr. Kempster is being charged with Breach of Peace of a High and Aggravated Nature. Investigators have also been in contact with Clinton Public Safety to make them aware of the threats since Mr. Kempster is in District 56.
