D.A.R.E Program Graduates 219 Students

In May of 2016, Sgt. Jackie Turner “DARED” to be different from the other deputies at the Laurens County Sheriff’s Office. Yes, Sgt. Turner chose a different path in her law enforcement career. She chose to educate the students of Laurens District 55 about the dangers of drugs. The D.A.R.E program, which was formally taught by the late Lt. Larry Young, still thrives today because Sgt. Turner chose to be different, followed her heart and became a certified D.A.R.E instructor. This semester, Sgt. Turner taught D.A.R.E classes at Ford Elementary, E.B Morse and Hickory Tavern Elementary. Over the last three weeks, 219 boys and girls graduated from her program. Each of the students received a D.A.R.E tee shirt, certificate and a special gift honoring them for their participation and successful completion. The Command Staff and I would like to say to Sgt. Turner “Thanks for all you do and the lives that you are impacting on a daily basis. Congratulations on a job well done!!”
